The Minister for Government Communications and Member of Parliament for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu, has referenced the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) economic performance under the Fourth Republic following the release of inflation data indicating a 3.8% rate for January 2026.

In a statement on his social media post on Twitter(X) on February 4, 2026, Mr. Felix Kwakye -Ofosu said that the figures provided an opportunity to reflect on what he described as the NDC’s economic record during its periods in government.

He noted that Ghana recorded its highest economic growth rate of 14.4% in 2011 under an NDC administration, adding that the country also achieved its lowest inflation rate of 2.9% in April 1999.

According to the minister, Ghana experienced its longest stretch of single-digit inflation between 2010 and 2012, lasting 33 consecutive months.

He further stated that the cedi recorded its highest annual appreciation against the US dollar in 2025, strengthening by 40.7%.

On the external sector, he said Ghana’s gross international reserves reached US$13.8 billion by the end of 2025, representing an import cover of 5.7 months.

The minister criticised claims by political opponents of superior economic management, arguing that economic outcomes under their stewardship contradicted such assertions.

“Ghanaians must always check the records,” he said.
