TrumpRx, the Trump administration's highly awaited direct-to-consumer drug site, started operating on Thursday.

This is a main part of President Donald Trump's plan to cut prescription medicine prices. The site links patients to drug companies selling select drugs to people paying cash without insurance. Big-name weight loss drugs like Zepbound and Wegovy are on offer at reduced prices this way. Officials revealed the improved TrumpRx.gov site, which began last fall as a basic information page at a White House gathering.

“You’re going to see numbers that you’re not going to believe,” Trump said of the lower drug prices on the site.

It's still uncertain if these direct sales will really lower costs for patients paying cash who have prescriptions. Experts say it might help with drugs like weight loss medicines that insurance often skips. But for many other drugs, people could end up paying less over the year using their insurance.

At least 16 drug companies have agreed to join the TrumpRx site, with 43 drugs now up, and more to come. Key ones include Eli Lilly’s Zepbound from $299 monthly, Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy pill from $149 monthly, AstraZeneca’s Bevespi inhaler at $51, and Pfizer’s Xeljanz at $1,518.30. Some promised drugs, like Merck’s Januvia for $100, are missing for now.

Discounts run from 33% to 93% off list prices, often around 50% off, but list prices don't always show true patient costs.

People can check the drug list, then grab a coupon for a pharmacy or click to the maker's own sales page. The site tells those with insurance to check copays first, as they might be cheaper.

A few drugs have the same low prices already at stores; GoodRx lists Pfizer’s Duavee for menopause symptoms at $30.30 cash; the same as TrumpRx, at many pharmacies.

Trump calls the drug price effort a big win against high health costs, a top worry for voters. It pairs with the “Most Favored Nation” plan, which makes drug firms offer Medicaid and new U.S. drugs at their cheapest peer-country rates.

The president has grown increasingly enthusiastic about the site and his full drug pricing push. He sees it as a vital piece to calm voter worries on living costs, which have hurt his poll numbers and sparked fears for Republicans in the November midterms.
