KNUST Management Responds to Voilent Student Clash Announces Security Crackdown

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) management issued a press release on 10 February 2026 detailing its response to a violent student clash that occurred at about 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, 8 February 2026. The incident left one student injured and receiving medical treatment at the University Hospital. The university administration expressed grave concern over the event and outlined immediate actions to safeguard lives and property on campus.
Key measures announced include:
1. A full investigation to identify participants and apply appropriate sanctions according to university regulations.
2. Suspension of all public gatherings and student programmes except officially approved religious, medical, or humanitarian activities, pending further notice.
3. Collaboration with the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies to arrest and prosecute students or individuals disturbing campus peace.
4. Publication of names and photographs of dismissed, rusticated, or suspended students on all media platforms as a deterrent, as previously directed by the University Council.
